Hey Guys, I'm considering the purchase of a 2008 or 2009 C300 with a manual transmission some time over the next year. I have owned a 2001 BMW 330i with a manual for the last four years and for the most part it has served me quite well -- it has actually been cheaper to own than my old B5 Volkswagen Passat that it replaced. Other cars that I'm looking at are the Lexus IS and BMW 3-Series, but whatever car I get it must be a manual. I have a couple questions: 1.) I've actually found the maintenance costs for the BMW to be quite reasonable here in Canada. For example, rotors and pads are under $1000 and a new clutch is about $800 at the dealership. Does anyone have any similar examples for service on the C-Class?

2.) Is this car generally reliable? Hw much should I expect to spend in repairs each year? 3.) Does the C-Class have a good manual transmission when compared to the BMW? 4.) Why did you choose the C-Class over models offered by the competitors?

5.) Do all C-Class models come standard with Xenon headlamps? Thanks for any help and advice you can offer! I have what you are seeking, but I am keeping it, as MB announced they will no longer make manual trans C Class vehicles after 2011. So, just to be helpful: 1) After two years, approaching 20,000 miles, I have only had routine maintenance (and a battery under warranty), no other part replacement such as you asked.

Perhaps drop by the dealer or an independent German car shop for best estimates. 2) The car has been extremely reliable. JDPower shows it superior for 3 year old models versus Audi or BMW, and it just won the initial quality award for new cars for 2010 model year. 3) Not as slick as BMW, which is a shortcoming. Throw is longer and clutch is not as intuitive in its feel.

How well you adapt will depend on your level of tolerance. But, it is better than some other nations' brands. Drive the one you are considering before you buy. The superiority of the overall car helps make the acceptance easier. 4) A4 just felt too insubstantial on the test drive. Almost bought a 3, but when I found out about run flat tires, (which I could replace), but not even having under trunk storage space for any type of spare (which I could not re-create), that got me looking further, and I really took to the C Class overall. 5) No, and mine does not have them, and I don't miss them.

Leftover Crack New Album. Good luck with your search.it will get more difficult as time passes! Shame Mercedes is bowling over like Volvo already has, I can't tell you how many stupid salesman told me a tiptronic was 'the same' as a manual nowadays, uh no. OK, rewind almost two years ago when we were shopping around, test drove all the equal models in the $30-40K four-door range with a trunk: Lexus IS 250, Subaru WRX, Pontiac G8 GXP, BMW 328i, VW Passat CC, and the C300. At the time we were driving a 2007 VW GTI, loved that car just needed something as fast but with four doors and a trunk (our needs had changed). We were also looking to do a two year lease.
