Garmin Serial Number Lookup
I use the Jepp database updates for my 430W. You can usually find the Skybound II card programming adapter pretty cheap from others who have upgraded to newer units that can't use it anymore. I use Garmin only for my 696 updates and subscribe to their VFR data to keep the costs down. I know Garmin required a serial # for the 696, but I don't think Jepp needed or even asked for that.
With the Jepp Distribution Manager, I've found the updates easy to download/install. The only downside to Jepp was dealing with their payment processing people when I tried to do a renewal outside of the normal process. They were unable to apply my credit card payment to the account after the fact, but it turned out alright after they messed with it for several months (with no effort on my part, and my updates weren't interrupted). _________________ Mike Ray 'You can call me Ray' Based at KJQF, K-35, SEL, IR Username Protected.

Jepps website is an abortion. They would send me a paper renewal notice about 90 days prior to expiration, so that got pitched in the trash. Trying to find a place to pay on their website is almost impossible. And it can't be done from their JDM program on my computer. _________________ Want to go here? Find the eight- or nine-digit serial number on the Garmin product. If you are unsure where to find the serial number, navigate to the Garmin How To Find Serial Number webpage to learn where the serial number is on the specific product. Call Garmin customer service at (913) 397-8200 during normal business hours. Since Garmin is being a bit light on details about the new batch which should fix the hardware issues I thought we might try to compile a list of serial numbers and.
I'm on the Garmin web site, and I'm looking at the Onepak info. And then I see.
'Note: Database updates for the GNS/GNC/GPS 400W/500W series of devices can only be installed using a Windows computer at this time.' I don't own a Windows computer, and really don't want to buy one just for uploading databases. I own 5 computers, but none of them run Windows. What are other Mac users doing?
EDIT: Looks like I can get a Windows computer at Best Buy for under $300. Less than a fully-equipped iPad.

Cheap laptop from Craigslist, leave it in the hangar and tether it to your phone for updates. _________________ CFII/MEI Username Protected. I need to subscribe to a database update program for my relatively-new 58P. It has a 530W, a 430W, and a G600. I can't figure out how to find the serial number on the GNS boxes.
Which screen has that info? Can't find the info in the logs, either. Also, I have to decide whether to use the Garmin or Jepp databases. Tom, there is no pilot selectable screens that show the serial number of the unit, it will have to be removed from the panel to look on the serial tag if this data is not available in the logs.
